A Pile of Scraps!
A nice pile of scraps. You know what that says to me? I've been busy! .....or maybe just a little lazy? Who knows. When I see a pile of scraps like this, I know I have been working hard on piecing quilt tops, but not cleaning up!

Actually, this pile isn't too bad. There are times when I can barely see the top of the counter! As I cut fabric for a quilt top, I do cut pieces that are left over and are smaller than a fat eighth into strips for later projects (or binding). I will start with a 2 1/2" strip. If my scrap isn't big enough for that, I'll cut a 1 1/2" strip. I looked in my storage area and I have quite a few bags of strips .... I better get started on some projects!
One thing I did make recently with some left over strips, was a cell phone holder.

I had a "store bought" one that broke one day, so I whipped this one up by joining strips into a strip set and then cutting a 3 1/2 x 4 1/2" rectangle for the front (I just used a solid piece of fabric for the back. I did make a "quilt sandwhich" and quilted it, sewed the front and back together, then bound the top, added a loop and a button on the side. Cute, huh? As said by the Greek philosopher, Plato: "necessity is the mother of invention" !
What made that pile of scraps I showed at the top of this post? I was working on a quilt that will be published next year in a popular quilt calendar, so I can not show the quilt, but.... here's a peek at one of the blocks.

Three days, 36 blocks done and joined. Now I have to work on the pieced borders. More scraps ahead!
Well, signing off for today. Happy quilting everyone!
